Thanks for visiting Martin Thaller Designs!
I am a furniture designer & craftsman who lives and works in Bat Cave, North Carolina. Surrounded by the ancient beauty of the Appalachian Mountains, I am inspired everyday by the simplicity & grace of this natural environment. I strive to reflect these qualities in my design & craftsmanship, by using premium materials & meticulous construction that will carry these pieces through the years & generations to come. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.... Customer satisfaction is my top priority!
~ What kinds of woods do you use?
I primarily use solid maple, walnut and cherry, typically from NC, and the surrounding areas. Specialty or exotic woods can be specified for custom orders. Check out my page about selecting hardwoods for furniture to learn more about the premium hardwoods I use for my handcrafted furniture!
~ How long does it take to receive my piece of furniture?
Available & In Stock Furniture
"In Stock" items ship within 7 business days when possible. Available pieces are the exact item in the photos. 'Made To Order' Furniture 'Made To Order' items are pieces that made for you once the order is placed. The images on the listing are examples of the design, and I will usually have some wood options in the drop down menu, even though you may not see that combination in the photos. If you are ordering a "made to order" item, please realize that the item you receive will be similar in appearance but not identical to photographs of previously made items.
"Made to order" items generally ship within 2 to 6 weeks. If shop scheduling requires a longer time frame, the customer will be advised at the time the order is placed.I am always available to update the customer on shipping schedules. Please feel free to contact me at any time, and I will update you to when I expect the order to ship. 'Custom' Order Furniture Have something in mind that you don't see in my shop? Being both the designer & craftsman, I can create something slightly similar, or radically different. If you need an item of a specific size, custom design, or want different woods or accents, just let me know and I will be happy to create it for you. I enjoy a challenge! Just send me a custom item request, and we can work on your vision!
~ How do you ship the furniture? Items usually ship by UPS ground service unless the item size requires motor freight shipment. Other arrangements can be made to suit the customer's needs. All items are carefully packaged, often in a wooden crate. Every effort is made to insure that the item is received in excellent condition. Customer satisfaction is the top priority.
Please contact me for international orders, so we can work out the details of shipping your item.
Do you accept returns?
Due to the custom nature of my work, I do not ordinarily issue refunds. Please be sure that you want the item before you place the order, as I cannot simply return an item to inventory if the customer changes his mind. If you place an order and find that a financial hardship has occurred and a refund is needed, please contact me and I will do whatever I can to accommodate your needs. A full or partial refund may be available if the circumstances warrant.
What are your payment options?
I accept PayPal, Credit Card and Debit Card, through ETSY's checkout process. You do not need a PayPal Account to pay for your items through PayPal: You can choose the PayPal Option during checkout. After you submit your order click the "Pay Now" button. Scroll Down and you will see the option to pay with a Credit or Debit Card WITHOUT having to sign up for a PayPal account. Payment must be made in full and have cleared before the item is made & shipped. This is because almost all of my work is custom and "made to order". If you are having any issues with Payment please do not hesitate to contact me and I will assist you in anyway that I can.
My furniture is individually handmade utilizing natural hardwoods. These are 'one of a kind' creations and not factory manufactured or veneered in any way. The nature of handmade craftsmanship makes it quite difficult to make identical items, so some variation in color and appearance are natural. My photos always reflect the true product, but you should expect slight variations from sample photo and product received. There may be natural variations that are not blemishes and should not be misconstrued as flaws. These are what make each piece of a handmade product charming and unique. Just get in touch, and we can work on your vision!
