Martin Thaller is a furniture maker who handcrafts one-of-a-kind furniture from his workshop in the ruggedly beautiful mountains of western North Carolina; the very heart of the Appalachian Mountains.

While he specializes in creating high end 'custom' pieces for his clientele, his personal style reflects his appreciation for 'Art Deco' design and architecture, and other minimalist styles such as modern,

Japanese and Scandinavian design. The results are quietly powerful and totally original works-of-art that have a sculptural presence, and allow the natural beauty of the wood to become a part of the design, instead of competing with it.

Each piece begins with Martin's original design concept, and superior materials that are handpicked for each project. As every individual piece comes together, he uses time honored techniques such as hand fitted joints and mortise & tenon construction to ensure that future generations will inherit a cherished heirloom. With his meticulous eye for detail, the finishing touches and final hand rubbed finish come together to create stunning furniture that must be seen to be truly appreciated.

“Martin, I received the cherry table today and want you to know it arrived safely. It is absolutely gorgeous! Your work is wonderful and I am so happy with the piece! Thank you so much for working with me to create exactly what I needed and taking the time to pack it so carefully. I truly appreciate all of your effort and woodworking skills. I love the combined cherry and walnut woods which makes it so unique. Thank you so much! If I ever need a wood piece in the future I will be contacting you!”
